We all hope to find ourselves in a good relationship. One that makes our lives better and ensures a happy and helpful future for two.
1. You laugh with your partner
Laughter is healthy, especially in a relationship. If you are able to laugh with your partner, it is very good sign that things are going well and you both feel comfortable with each other. If you aren't finding yourselves laughing together enough, make an effort to do things that will make you laugh more. A funny movie, a comedy show, silly game, or even just a funny story or joke are good ways to keep the laughter flowing.
2. Both are able to recognize their mistakes
It may be difficult admit that you were wrong about something, but nobody's perfect, we all make mistakes. You can use mistakes as a chance to learn and to become a better person. In a relationship, a mistake is an opportunity for a discussion. Admit your mistake, and your partner should accept the mistake. Asking for and giving forgiveness when we do wrong is part of having a healthy relationship.
3. There are future plans
A couple should be able to talk about the future together. Having dreams of doing things together in the future is a good indication, that things are going well. But if your partner never wants to talk about the future, it may be a sign of the opposite and that they just want to have fun with you for a short term.
4. There are no grudges
A person should not constantly remind their partner of past mistakes. If you truly have forgiven each other, you can move forward and become stronger. Holding grudges is unhealthy and often builds into a conflict large enough to end the relationship all together.
5. There is respect for personal space
Its good for couples to spend time together and enjoy the same things. But you shouldn't be together all the time. Everyone needs personal space and alone time. Make some for yourself and let your partner do so also.
6. There is equality and justice
Always getting what you want does not indicate that the relationship it is good. It actually might indicate that one party only thinks of themself. Always seeing the movie one person wants to watch or eating the type of food that one person enjoys. The other party may feel like they are just being giving and considerate. But eventually, people get fed up and it can backfire against both sides. As a couple, you should both give and take and the majority of decisions should not be made by either individual.
7. There is support in difficult times.
One thing that should always be present in a relationship is support in difficult times. Even if your partner can't actually help in the situation, a kiss, a hug, words of encouragement...can all go a long way. A true love will not disappear when the going gets rough.
8. You can talk about everything
Communication is very important. Being able to speak to your partner in confidence is also a good sign of trust. You should always be able to speak openly and sincerely with each other. And you should know which conversations are to stay between the two of you.
9. You have mutual respect.
If there is no respect in the relationship, it is not true love. In spite of your differences, you should never be asked by your partner to do something against your morals. You should never drag your partner through the mud, but rather build each other up with positivity.
10. There is trust
If there is no trust in a relationship it will likely be difficult to sustain. Life is simply not enjoyable when one or both parties is constantly skeptical of the other's behaviors or motives. This is particularly true if accusations are constantly being made, rather they are true or not. If one partner has been unfaithful in the past, rebuilding trust is both difficult and necessary. A relationship without trust is typically very uncomfortable and usually results in a break up.
