ABOUT THE POSITION
VHB’s growing New York City team is looking for a talented Transportation Intern to join our Mobility Department for Summer 2026!
Responsibilities
- Perform field work either alone or in pairs taking measurements, pictures, visually confirming survey locations and detailing existing traffic control facilities.
- Perform analysis of traffic, parking, and multimodal transportation data.
- Create text and spreadsheet documents and manipulate data.
- Effectively interact with VHB staff to advance projects in a timely manner
- Engineering calculations
- Preparing figures, diagrams, and conceptual schematics for transportation systems
Skills and Attributes
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong analytical skills; excel required, scripting a plus
- Self-motivated with attention to detail
- Ability to independently manage multiple tasks and interact appropriately and positively with clients
- Creative Problem Solving
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering, Planning or related discipline
- Must have the ability to conduct tasks independently
- Strong interest in transportation engineering
Our best estimate of the hourly salary range for this position located in New York is $19/hr. - $30/hr. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
