POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
This position is full-time, following a first shift schedule, 36.25 hours per week, 7:45 AM - 3:00 PM with one late day, 12:30 PM - 7:45 PM, Monday - Friday.
As a Correctional Substance Abuse trainee, you will have the opportunity to receive training in agency substance abuse counseling procedures, offender substance abuse programs, personnel policies, program guidelines and legal reporting requirements.
You will receive training in utilization of interviewing techniques required to assess client needs, elicit information and establish community referral sources.
As a trainee, you will also participate in screening offenders to determine eligibility for programs and assist in orientation of offenders to treatment programs.
You will prepare initial/long term treatment plans, Bio-psycho-social evaluation, case management, being part of facility based MOUD programming, received assistance in becoming certified/licensed through the CCB and DMHAS.

This recruitment will be used to fill an active vacancy at Carl Robinson Correctional Institution in Enfield, CT and other future vacancies on first shift and second shift (7:45 AM - 3:00 PM with one late day 12:30 PM - 7:45 PM Monday - Friday) at the following locations:

Brooklyn Correctional Institution - Brooklyn, CT
Cheshire Correctional Institution - Cheshire, CT
Manson Youth Institution - Cheshire, CT
York Correctional Institution - East Lyme, CT
Willard-Cybulski Correctional Institution - Enfield, CT
Robinson Correctional Institution - Enfield, CT
Hartford Correctional Center - Hartford, CT
Corrigan Correctional Center - Montville, CT
New Haven Correctional Center - New Haven, CT
Garner Correctional Institution - Newtown, CT
Osborn Correctional Institution - Somers, CT
MacDougall-Walker Correctional Institution - Suffield, CT

NOTE: This is a Hazardous Duty Position and offers a pension plan, the State Employees Retirement System Tier IV.

Qualifications & Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Three (3) years of experience in casework and/or counseling with some work with clients/offenders with behavioral healthcare issues.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED
College training in human behavior may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equaling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of three (3) years.
