The Mission Systems Operations Contract (MSOC) at the Johnson Space Center is seeking a Power Systems Engineer/designer with exposure to, and/or knowledge in, the electrical power systems area, and who is passionate about increasing their experience and knowledge in the areas of electrical circuitry and distribution systems for both the NASA/JSC Mission Systems critical and non-critical power systems. The selected applicant will also be involved in conducting impact analysis for any engineering modifications, installations, and maintenance of space mission systems in both the test environment and production environments, conduct power infrastructure analysis, electrical systems design, facility planning and modifications, as well as design and generation of required engineering drawings. The applicant will work in a team environment, and must possess good interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written. Our ideal candidate will have a strong drive to apply and continually update his/her skill base, is team oriented and with good problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities to include Generation of technical instructions for implementation Assist in the design of power infrastructures (circuitry, distribution equipment, etc.) for the 3 Mission Systems Consult/coordinate contract requests for facility modifications (i.e. walls and doors) Assist in the review of design proposals for impact to flight operations Assist in the design and implementation of room layouts per customer requirements and fire safety codes Communicate and coordinate with team leader, as well as MSOC management as needed Comply with the MSOC contract and NASA/JSC/MSD direction, policies, and procedures Make improvements and suggestions to advance the overall engineering processes in place Incident and Risk Management Support system projects and new engineering initiatives
Qualifications:
Education: BS in Electrical Engineering or related discipline 10 years or more experience in premises (low voltage) wiring installation and/or design
Desired Qualifications An understanding of electrical power (premises wiring/low voltage) systems and circuitry principles 10 years, or more, of experience working with power systems design and analysis is a plus Good problem solving and analytical skills Strong communication skills Working knowledge/understanding of NFPA Volume 70, Volume 70E and Volume 75 Master's degree in electrical engineering/Master Electrician License a definite plus At KBR, we are passionate about our people and our Zero Harm culture.
