1. Contact your Blind Date in advance. Its good to establish communication via messages, email or text, prior to the first date. Always use a nice, friendly tone. Do not ask too much personal information or make your long term plans known immediately. Keep it light and informal prior to your first date.
2. Its good to select 2 or 3 places to meet and allow the other person to choose between these places, or vice versa.
3. Prepare for the first date. Make sure both parties are clear on the time and place. Select something appropriate and nice looking to wear. Think of questions to ask to fill awkward silences. Some of these questions can come from previous messages between the two of you.
4. Don't have high expectations just yet. Just because someone is going on a date with you, they won't necessarily become the love of your life. Your date will be more enjoyable for you both if you look at is as a chance to make a new friend, rather than spend the time evaluating this person as a potential life partner.
5. Bring something to keep you busy while you wait. Your nerves will be more calm if you are reading a book or newspaper, as opposed to just sitting anticipating your date's arrival.
6. During your date, be open minded. Make a genuine effort to get to know your date. Ask open ended and interesting questions, but avoid being too personal. Relax and try to enjoy your date.
7. Plan an escape route. Some blind dates turn out to just be simply disasterous. Have a friend call you 30 minutes into the date. If you are ready to leave, this will give you an easy excuse to do so.
8. Don't discuss a second date until after you've established that you want to see your date again. If you aren't romantically interested, don't pretend to be. This could easily cause problems in the future, especially if a mutual friend introduced you. Although it can be hard to let someone down, it is never a good idea to string a person along.
